Refine and export

After Rodeo builds your rough cut, you can refine it in two ways. Describe the changes you want in plain language, or fine-tune clips yourself on the timeline. When the cut is ready, export it to your finishing tool. You do all of this in the document you open from the Documents page.

Prerequisites

Refine by describing changes

Describe your changes in plain language, and Rodeo rebuilds the cut.

1

Select the Describe your edits box at the bottom of the page.

2

Describe the change you want. For example, remove a scene, reorder the scenes, or shorten the cut.

3

Submit your description. Rodeo rebuilds the cut in the same document and updates the Storyline panel.

Note

Each new cut replaces the previous one. Make one change at a time and review the result.

Fine-tune on the timeline

Open the timeline to adjust individual clips by hand.

1

In your document, select the Edit button. The timeline opens with your clips in order.

2

Adjust your clips:

  • To trim a clip, select it, then drag its start or end handle.

  • To reorder clips, drag a clip to a new position.

  • To remove a clip, select it, then select the Delete clip button.

  • To undo or redo a change, select the Undo or Redo button.

3

Select the Back button when you finish.

Export your cut

Rodeo builds the rough cut. Color, sound, effects, and final polish are handled by your finishing tool. Export the finished cut as a video to share or as an interchange file for your finishing tool.

1

Select the Export button.

2

In the Export video dialog, open the Format menu and choose an option:

  • MP4: a finished video you can share or post.
  • EDL: an Edit Decision List that opens in most finishing tools.
  • OTIO: an OpenTimelineIO file, an open interchange format.
  • XML: a file for Final Cut Pro and DaVinci Resolve.
3

Select the Export button.
