# Create video embeddings

To create video embeddings, you must first upload your videos, and the platform must finish processing them. Uploading and processing videos require some time. Consequently, creating embeddings is an asynchronous process comprised of three steps:

1. [Create a video embedding task](/v1.3/api-reference/create-embeddings-v1/video-embeddings/create-video-embedding-task)  that uploads and processes a video.
2. [Monitor the status](/v1.3/api-reference/create-embeddings-v1/video-embeddings/retrieve-video-embedding-task-status) of your video embedding task.
3. [Retrieve the embeddings](/v1.3/api-reference/create-embeddings-v1/video-embeddings/retrieve-video-embeddings).
